This will be my final post of concepts I did for RWBY season 1!

The first image is the colored version of this image of beacon academy I did but I colored it on my own time and not under RT. The center statue is my own design and is not used in the final product. The other images are part of the last few episodes, which is the port and dock scene.

There were several more I did but they are not shown/included in this season, so I can’t post haha. I hope you guys enjoyed watching season 1, and if you haven’t finished them all yet, they are all up on roosterteeth.com!!

Haven’t posted some RWBY concept work for a while. Here’s some concepts of their school (class, hallway) and dorm sketches/layouts, including rooftop.

The top picture was used as Weiss’ painting she hung up in the dorm room, but it was also the concept used for the Forever Fall clearing when they were gathering the tree sap :)

RWBY official concept work from various episodes. Including armory, dining hall, ballroom, forest/cliff shots, cave, and the temple clearing.

Hope you all enjoy today’s episode, it’s pretty action packed ;D

rockets:

RWBY work from episode 1! A few concept illustrations of Vale, and the alley way + dust shop stuff, later modeled into 3D by a few 3D modeler/builders.

Happy Friday everyone, and hope you all have a great weekend :)

RWBY work from episode 3~

I designed the amphitheater front, back and outside of it. They wanted it to be a partly opened design so I took a bit of the Hollywood bowl and old colosseums into consideration- the area in the center where all the students stand at can be served as a fighting arena as well.

The bottom images are flat matte painting shots of Beacon at night, including a panorama :)

More to come later! Some of these are probably gonna be posted out of order…XD

More official RWBY work from ep. 1! Most of the work I did for them are things that are eventually going to be modeled in 3D so I always had to keep that in mind. I eventually started working under Taylor Pelto (who is awesome btw!), who is their 3D environment artist but now the overall Art Director for RWBY.

The middle two grayscale images is something I pulled together pretty quick when they wanted a ship platform design and an added walkway surrounding the school.

The image at the end is a matte painting they asked me to do for the end of ep 1. There are lots of new things I learned myself while trying to figure out how this was going to translate as a background image to a moving 3D image in the foreground. I included a little gif of the process :)

More to come later!

Some official work from the first episode of RWBY. Thanks Monty for giving me the OK to post these!

The first concept I had to do when I started working on RWBY was design the school (Beacon Academy), which is one of the main settings so far. It was super fun to work on these, and definitely a little challenging since they wanted a bit of gothic architecture incorporated to the school, but keeping something modern built in at the same time. The statue in the courtyard was something I put randomly and they later eventually replaced it with something you see in the intro song. The beacon tower of the school is also seen in the intro of ep. 1.

More to come later :)
